T'was The Night Before Christmas MM Style
Night Before Christmas, MM Style T'was the night before Christmas and all through the Marsh, Not a creature was stirring not even an Oddfish. The poles were all hung in the garage with great care, In hopes that May would soon be here. The Marauders were all wandering about, Waiting for ice to freeze throughout. Harry, his trusty fishing pole and his ole dog, Had just settled down to finish a fishing log. When out on the Marsh there rose such a clatter, Must be Scunz keeping the goose from getting fatter. Still, to the window, we flew like a flash, Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash. The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow, Gave the luster of midday to the Marsh below. When what to our wondering eyes should pass, But a miniature boat being pulled by eight Bass. With a driver so lively and quick, it gave us no pause, We Knew in a moment it must be Roccus Claus. More rapid than Durado these bass they came, And he cast and he jigged and he called them by name. "Now, 63, now,61, now 55, and 41, On 56, on 47, on 48, and 51. To the head of the beach! To the seawall! Now dash away dash away all!" Like peanut poogies before a blitz fly, When they meet with an obstacle mount to the sky. So up to Defiant Lobster they flew, With a boat full of gear and St. Roccus too. Then in a twinkling Marsh Indian, River Jim, Cold Waters and Merrill all heard on the roof of tin, The slapping and jumping of each tail fin. As Coalman, Danny, BrandonK, and Marshman all turned around, Down the chimney St. Roccus came with a bound. He was dressed all in plaid and rain gear form his head to toe, And his clothes were all torn, slimy and covered with herring roe. A bundle of Gear he had flung on his back, And he looked like a peddler just opening his sack. His eyes how they twinkled, his smile a delight, a right jolly old elf, Scottymac, Tom S, Marcus220, and Mason laughed and introduced themself. A wink of his eye and a twist of his head, Soon gave me to know I was putting this in a new thread. He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled all the stockings with lures, then turned with a jerk, And laying a pole to the side of his nose, gave Skunch a nudge, and turning his rod, up the chimney he rose. He sprang to his boat and to his fish gave a shout, And away they sped like a hungry spring trout. But we heard him exclaim, ere he rode out of sight, "Happy Christmas to all and to all, FISH AT NIGHT!" Last edited by oddfish : 12-24-2009 at 09:09 AM. |
