Unhappy Where's the Beef???

Just fished the outgoing tide between the trestle and Nudd's Landing 6-9AM. Flies, clams and even fresh caught bloody shad filets. ZIPPO! Talked to John Nelson at F&G just now and he says many of the bass aren't venturing past Cape Cod this year due to the big schools of pogies in Narragansett Bay and south. Great striper fishing on the East Coast south of Mass. At least the shad was fun on my flyrod. Thought of fishing him live under a bobber but didn't bring a net big enough to land the size bass that could have swallowed that sucker!

Does seem slow than past few years up inside. But there have been some nice bass caught in the Merrimack, Pissy-scataqua and a few rivers north. I know Rick has found some nice cows, and Roc has landed the usual behemoths he can sniff out. I know where I'd be everyday off Hampton if I had a boat But yeah, I believe it's definitely been slower for us pluggers and drifters who use our feets, especially along the shore

It's all about the bait, the bass showed here two weeks early... right on the mackerel, the Merrimack has been fast and furious with lots of big fish, I keep waiting for a slow down, but it hasnt happend yet...Although the east wind we have now will surly kill the bass fishing for a few days and bring in those yellow eyeed tooth devils...

there are tons of sandeels outside the mouth, more than I've seen in 20 years... as long as thye hang around, the bass will stay near...

I think your bay fish left whith the pogies, if those suckers had hung out in the Maaaash you'd be knee deep in big fish..

I saw pogies in the Squamscott River on the inside of the trestle on my way out Saturday. The pogies were thick at Fox Point 2 Saturday's ago at bottom of the tide. We watched a seal circle the school up to the surface at the red can. Then actually saw him pick one off.
I have my cast net, gill net and snagging hooks on the boat. I'm ready.

Heading out in the early AM with Rick G., around 4:30, gonna find some Pogies north of Hampton and find some good fish. Hopefully.

Be back around noon with a report. And some pics. Hopefully.

You don't need fish to take pics. Take us along with your photos. We'll be sleeping.

All the beef seems to be a bit north of us, south too.

I took some other shots of that particular trip, but the fog came into play and the others didnt come out well.
