Florida Fishing is heating up

Anyone thinking of heading south to Florida this Winter might want to consider the east-central coastal area. Easy access and plenty of public access to beaches and lagoons. Many guides and information available from B&Ts along the coast.

Hot spots-late Fall:

Mosquito Lagoon/Banana River/Merritt Island No Motor zone have been giving up catches of large Redfish(Drum) in the 20-30 lb. range. #1 bait is live shrimp or small Mullet. Lures: DOA Shrimp, chartreuse Mirrorlures.

Indian River Lagoon from Titusville to Sebastian has seen a big run of mullet come in from the ocean at the two inlets - Canaveral and Sebastian. Those fish were followed by large Redfish and Snook. King and Spanish Mackerel
Pompano and Jack Crevelle are smashing the mullet in the surf whenever it lies down enough for beach fishing. The inlets will provide good fishing all Winter - especially during hours of darkness. Sebastian Inlet has been giving up some huge Doormat Flounder.

Anyone planning a trip down here to the Space Coast - Cape Canaveral to Sebastian Inlet and looking for up to date info is welcome to send me an email to: fishinthesurf@att.com.
