Howdy

Hey there!

New to the forum, although I've been lurking for a spell.

Mostly fish the waters 'round Madison NH, such as the Pea Porridge ponds, lower Pequawket, Silver lake and all the streams.

Spin Caster and a fly fisher, I mostly fish with my daughter, quality time spent.
Also an upland hunting addict, love grouse, quail and pheasant hunts. Love the speed of the snowshoe hare!.

Tell me, anyone else fish these waters?

Welcome to the site!

I'm not sure if anyone on the site fishes those spots, but I'm sure they will let you know if they do.

, and welcome.

It has been a while since I have fished Silver, but there are some cocker Smallmouth in there. I used to fish with a Bass club, and we had a tourny there once. For anyone who has never been there, the trip is worth it. Such a beautifull lake at the foot of the White mountains, great views, little boat traffic, and big fish. I would highly recomend it.

It is one of those tough lakes to fish for bass. With the exeption of the north end, it is kind of bowl shaped...Slightly sloaping sandy banks extending out quite a way from shore till they drop into what is a deep lake for its acerage.

What I found out, was a map made all the diff...I studied it looking for the places where the drop was most severe, and closest to the shore....This paid off on pre-fish, and tourny days, because the lake has so little structure, the bass tend to congragate on the drops. That is their only structure.

What has your experience been there? Are you after the big trout that hang in the depths or Bass? If Bass, Try a small hair jig,1/4 or 1/8 ounce tipped with a spin frog pork rind (the small one). Fish it SLOW Barely move it down those drops. If a cast doesn't take you at least two minutes, your fishing it too fast. Hold on tight, and have fun.

Let me know how you do if you try it. BTW I think it's great you go with your daughter, she will remember those times for the rest of her life.

well we went out on Sunday, fishing off Eidelweiss Beach, more towards the canal that feeds the middle pond.

Second cast on a 4 inch diving Cabela's minnow got me this 24 inch Chain pickerel...

Pic is kinda crappy, as taken with a phone.

I've been told that you can get some type of certificat for a 24" pickeral in NH if you have it offically measured an weighed....don't know if you want to look into that or not, but nice fish!
