New guy here too!

, Marauders! I've been a NEKF member for a couple of years and just discovered this site. Glad to be a member, since I live in Amesbury and LOVE to fish from my kayak. I'd sure like to get to know the Hampton estuary well enough to fish it at night. Anybody want to steer me in the right direction to some big cows? I usually release all my fish. Once in a while I'll keep a 34 or 36 inch fish. Anything bigger is released. I haven't kept a fish yet this year, but it's been my best year yet, since I discovered Joppa Flats! Do you folks have any tournaments scheduled?

Anyway, glad to be here.

John

KFD, welcome and thanks for joining the local forum I hope you enjoy it

If you're interested, we usually have a weekly outing in the marsh, feel free to join us anytime. We more often than not post up in the Castin N Blastin forum about it, so check that tomorrow, I think we will be heading out Thursday evening this week.

Welcome aboard KFD. Are you doing anything with the Mass Bay Striper shootout this weekend in salem? The boys at New England Kayak fishing are putting it on and my company is sponsoring some of the raffle prizes.
I don't fish from a kayak but you'll find this board helpful in all phases of your saltwater fishing whether it be fly fishing, chunking bait, or plugging.
No "chips on the shoulders" here that's for sure.

Shootout

Hi, Dave,

I wish I were in the shootout. Definitely next year though. The NEKF guys I've met have been great, and I look forward to getting to know them as I grow in my hobby/sport. Is there a tounament or outing through MM this year?

John

That would be interesting holding a tournament C&R on the river.
What do you think Jon?

Definitely a great idea! I really hope to do something like that during one of the future seasons. As we grow as a local online community, I think we could definitely do something like that. The support you guys have shown so far for MM in only the past year or so was what made me do all the updates and upgrades to the forum/site etc. The more support that is shown, and the more we grow, the easier it will be for all of us to get something like that put together

Maybe next Spring we can do something tied in with the local clean-up we do. It's a good way for everyone to get together and meet each other, at the same time doing a service for the local community.
