NH Stripers

Somewhere in southern NH there are stripers. Here's the big one for the day 31" 12 Lbs, not a monster but none the less the biggest so far. This one came Home for various reasons, but not because circle hooks don't work. Big stomach but no food for the day. stomach contents at least two days old, had plenty of food but none identifiable.
Pound for Pound the best fight from a striper I have ever had, 12 min and the critter took one more long run at the end.

Later in the day I had the best tail slap I have ever had also. Had a happy healthy energetic clupeid on the line and then just a jolt thru the line and not the pole. I smiled and reeled in the bait.....Dead and missing a bunch of it's scales.

Glad someone has the ambition to striper fish with all this crappy weather... My bones just hurt too much.

Nice fish Randy...

It's just plain scary how fast they grow and change....She's developing adult like behaviors....inbetween screaming and crying. But I can now have a reasonable adult like conversation with her, and the boy is not far behind....He don't like to be left out of anything. She is more into the fish as in hands on but he will be there soon...That's why she is holding up the fin. I was showing her all the striper defense mechanisms, including their gill plates so they can withstant their nose jousts without gill damage. I was a victem of that once out at the Isles of Shoals while I was diving.....I didn't understand it until someone explained it.
