I know a lot of guys here see the bluefish as a pest - and they certainly can get in the way of striper fishing, but I'm one who is thrilled that they are here in force. I surfcast only - no access to a boat - and the striper fishing has been a littel on the slow sidee for me this year. No worries - I love the fight that a good sized blue puts up, and I'm one of those oddballs that loves eating them too. A few hours in the smoker does wonders for them!!!

Last fall, I happened to hit an early morning with my girlfriend where the blues were everywhere. You could see small schools of them riding the inside of the waves - just cruising back and forth. Birds diving, a couple of seals nearby - it was the best moment of the year. We caught five fish that morning and every one of them was a great fight and rather tasty (BURP).

Bring 'em on - I'm glad they're here! And yes - I know I'm in the minority on this one!!!

Are you talking Jackson Lab or is there some other dock/pier that UNH owns?

A Growing Minority

Yes Scott, we may be in the minority, but let's just keep it that way. What happens if all of the sudden they became popular? Ride the wave, I say, whilst they are still not totally cool.

Blackducks,

Cold Waters is refering to (I believe) the UNH Peir that was just build that is next to the Coastguard Station at the Mouth.

BOO fish do fight well... as long as you have a good set of pliers and some wire leaders, i dont mind when they are around... just dont like eating the critters...

yes, i was reffering to the peir by the CG station....

they werent there today however, the pogies were there in force. all i had with me was the buggy whip....so i moved on.
