Inshore Cod Update
Still lot's of cod in the inshore area. Things were going well on the south side of Hampton shoals untill the doggies showed up. Then I was catching them like mackerel. Moved inshore near the intakes and got the 8 Lb.er. No dogs there. I am trying to put a picture up here we'll see if this works
Ok, never mind the picture I will figure it out later. If somebody wants to offer help with that I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.Oddfish Last edited by oddfish : 08-04-2008 at 12:22 AM. |

Merrill has been trying to fix the bug with attachments. It loads
on the second post. First post or new thread the manage attachments fails. What are you using for bait when getting those cod? |

Thanks for the photo info. I will work on it. As for the bait, no bait I use one of those multicolored 4 hook mackerel rigs and attach a 3oz. silver squid jig (you can go up bigger it doesn't seem to matter) attached to the end of that. I actually use this for mackerel, pollock, and cod. The mackerel hit on the drop or the down side of the jigging. The pollock hit on the Up swing about 3-5' off the bottom. And the cod hit very near the bottom usually just after the bounce. If yu don't get anything afeter 15 min move on. All the little bumps out there in 30-50 of water seem to have something to offer. Im sure the deeperoes do to but the dogs are getting bad.
Gut content of the cods were cunner crab and small lobster in about equal amounts. Oddfish Last edited by oddfish : 08-11-2008 at 05:19 PM. |
