hampton marsh striped bass

The marsh blew up last night, back to normal with bass pouring down the river in the ebb. May have even run into a snapper bluefish that broke my swimbait off. Bastid. Tons o' fishies

The water was stained very badly today in the Bay from the freshwater.

How's the Marsh look? Think the bass are there because of the run off ?

Nuttin big, but I didnt have any eels. The usual nursery fish lol. They were up at the dam though and they didnt come down past us till a few hours into the ebb. They were up there f'in around

That is a great question Coalman. I am not certain, but I can say for sure that they certainly either like it or just dont have a problem with it. Cuz they were upriver for hours before they started spilling down and bouncing off the surface.

Around what time did you see all this bass activity going on? I was fishing in the marsh from about 12-7 pm and only caught a 19 & 23"er but i had to work hard even for those fish.

And maybe a dumb newbie question, but what does ebb stand for?

Ebb = ebbing tide aka the outgoing

We fished from 7 or so till midnight I think. They were upriver a little longer than usual. But once they started coming, it was just like a "normal" summer night out there....fishing pouring down the river. you can hear em having a field day out there. And when they in this mode, they can often be very hard to trick.

All the fish in NH must have been in the marsh last night except for the one craigstripe found cruising the beach. Fishing was difficult, very weedy last night.

Fished the marsh (2nd trestle) in the falling tide this morning from 6:30 till 10:30 with the fly rod so I was only hoping to see a fish... Had one fish follow my fly but I stopped stripping and she turned away... There was an older guy drifting chunks and picked up 3 schoolies. Might try Sunday night, high tide at 8PM and sunset at 8:08PM....
Mac or harring chuncks?
will the green head bugs be as bad at night???

Greenheads sleep at night. Night time is for skeeters and mingees!

You can tell the locals 'cause we wear sweatshirts at night when it's 80 degrees. Better to sweat than bleed!

The freshwater didn't turn off the bite in the Bay last night. Fished 2 hours 7-9 PM with a buddy, live eels and netted 5 fish. Same nursery stock.

Monumental evening. My new Great Bay rod coupled with a Cabo 40 17 lb test worked like a charm. When I catch a keepa with it I'll post a pic.

More to come in my fishing log.
