Well, it was another long dark ride out with high hopes! We ran right to the NWC and figured on fishing the inside edge today because of the east wind. We had whales, tons of birds and good marks. POP, we hooked up at 7:30 fish took its usual run but we pulled the hook before we got the last rod cleared. Must have just been a bad set... Now we really had high hopes for the day... but the whales moved off the birds left except for the one who took a break on the boat, and the marks disappeared. So we worked over the high ground to the east side and still nothing. We headed south for a while and decided to head across again. We started marking good but down deep... so we left to sluggo out and started drifting and jigging for about 45 mins... nothing but puppies. The drift took us 2/3rds of the way back to the NWC and we had heard of a boat that hooked up over there. so out went the full spread and we were trolling again... typically we have been called it a day about 1 but we no one said a thing as 1 came and went so we trolled on... right as we were about to call it a day, we trolled by the Karen Lynn and they hooked up and then the Rock On hooked up so we turned around for one more pass!!! That’s were our fish for the day was sitting. 1:45 hooked up, 2:00 cleaning up and trolling in the direction of home until we got situated and made a run for the barn... it was a slow day but we got lucky enough to pull one out at the end.
