What do you want to know about NH Shellfish?

Halloo all,

Thanks Jim for posting the invasive plant species press release from the NH Coastal Program. I know they appreciate the help and energy.

I lurk on this site quite a bit to keep up on the fishing action for those rare occasions I have some spare time to actually go fishing. But now I am looking for some advice/opinions for my work.

My day job is with the New Hampshire Estuaries Project at the University of New Hampshire and I am looking for some input on a NH shellfish publication that we will produce this November and mail to all shellfish license holders.

It will be very similar to the Shellfish Spotlight http://www.nhep.unh.edu/resources/pdf/shellfish_sp otlight-nhep-05.pdf that we did in 2005. (BTW: Does anyone remember seeing it?)

The topics covered then were:
1. Healthy Shellfish Equal Clean Water
2. Status of Clams and Oysters in New Hampshire
3. New Shellfish Harvesting Area Opened in the Bellamy River
4. Shellfish Predators
5. Oyster Reef Restoration
6. Improve Shellfish Safety (consumption)
7. Enforcement: Battling Poachers
8. Oyster Stress
9. Clam Research in Hampton Harbor

Some things we will cover again, like status, but we need some new topics. I thought this group might have some opinions. ;)

So what do you want to know about NH Shellfish?

I need to begin writing the text for this brochure in a few weeks. It all needs to be done by late August.
FYI: We are a non-profit administered by UNH and funded by the EPA. Our overall mission is the protection and enhancement of the region’s estuaries. Learn more at New Hampshire Estuaries Project.

Thanks for any help.

Dave

HI, welcome, and thanks for joining!

I have to run to work for a bit, but I wanted post real quick and let you know that I will add your link to our Links page, and I will be changing your Title from noobie to "New Hampshire Estuaries Project".

I will also put something together for our front page that will link to this thread in order for it to get more attention. Be back later, thanks again.

Hey Dave, welcome to the site!

I think the only reason I remember the Shellfish Spotlight, is because I printed it. I never saw one after that.

BTW, I work for UNH Printing Services, and I always enjoy seeing NHEP, and Seagrant stuff come through the shop, some of my favorite stuff to print.

Hope we can help you out.

Glad to see you're a member, Dave. I read Jennifer and Mark's piece in the Portsmouth Herald this AM. Well written.
