Conservation & Regulation Any reports or information about game theft, animal cruelty, etc. should be posted here. Any information you post will be forwarded to the proper authorities. Plate numbers, description of the offender(s), even the description of a car is a start. Help to preserve our fishery, and our privilege of fishing the Hampton Estuary, or any beloved fishing spot in the local area. Local, State, and Federal laws & regs. also posted here.

Deep Sea license

Rumor fish and game might Start charging for ocean fishing,have they started this or will it start this year.Haven't been ocean fishing in so long,haven't really kep up with it.

Ya they brought it up last year too. Nothing definite yet. There would be a resident license then the non-resident one just like freshwater.

From a discussion I had last year with someone from fish and game,the way I understand it is this.

The federal government is going to mandate a saltwater licence in the next few years. They are leaving the states enough time to institute their own licensing programs so that they don't intrude on states rights issues and leave it up to the localities to decide, but if by a certain date the states don't have their own program then the feds will step in.

I support this approach so that the state controls the $ rather than Washington and far away politicians. So when the time comes I hope others will support the state licence. It is much better then a federal big government sollution.
