I recommend the following....

Don't be stubborn, TRASH Internet Explorer and switch to...

MOZILLA FIREFOX
http://www.getfirefox.com

and for email, DUMP Outlook Express...

MOZILLA THUNDERBIRD
http://www.getthunderbird.com

These are MUCH SAFER than Microsoft's crap. It took me MONTHS to finally switch from Internet Explorer to FIREFOX, but after a few days of getting used to it...I realized how much BETTER it is. BETTER FEATURES and MUCH SAFER. You cant beat that.

Don't be stubborn like Microsoft wants you to be.......SWITCH.

I was thinking about making the switch myself. But I have a few problems with Firefox 1.0.3. The inability to run ActiveX and VB script is both one of Firefox's strengths and weakness. Outlook Web Access gets stripped down to its barbones, and many sites do not render properly. Finally, Firefox does not integrate with desktop applications such as Microsoft Word or Excel. Also, Firefox does not render nonstandard DHTML properly, which means that you may not be able to view everything on the web with Firefox. So it's a good idea to keep IE around so you can still view such pages. Now for all bad things set aside, Firefox renders pages much quicker than IE and it is much safer than IE cause it doesn't run ActiveX components or VB script. Before you jump into the anti-IE bandwagon, you might want to see what the next IE has in store, IE 7. This new version, supposed to be released this summer, will have improved security and user interface. One last thing, jbolt, have you heard of Internet 2, It is the new internet used mainly by government and universities. It's hell a fast and the RIAA are already cracking down on college students for mass downloading pirated material. With Internet 2, you can download an entire movie within minutes. How awesome is that??

Ya, I heard about I-2. Sounds very interesting.

I dont really care about Microsoft shit not integrating with Firefox. If I want to open Word, I'll click the icon. I also like having my very favorite and most visited sites right under my browser. No need to open "Favorites". Open Firefox, BOOM, right there...buttons with every site I visit first.

I also have a great mod for Firefox that increases its speed 5 fold. It's blows IE away.

And if I need to run friendly Java or ActiveX, I'll tell Firefox to accept it.

Actually, here it is...

For those of you that use the Mozilla Firefox web browser, this will help speed up page loading. Please note that these settings are only good if you have a broadband connection (ie: cable, DSL, etc.). To begin...

In the address bar type "about:config"

Scroll down and set "network.http.pipelining" (by double-clicking) to "True"

Right below it, set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "True"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to 200. This means it will make 200 requests at once.

Last step, Right-Click anywhere and select New -> Integer and name it: "nglayout.initialpaint.delay", click OK, and set the value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it receives.

All done! You will now notice pages will load substantially faster when using the Mozilla Firefox web browser!

OMG! Jbolt, Firefox is freakin insane. I just installed it and pages load much much faster, graphics look sharper and clear, and the buffer rate when streaming videos is phenomenal. I love the features; multiple windows using tabs, quick search in the upper right hand corner, man its great. I read that there is so much customization that you can do with firefox to suit your needs. Once I get used to the whole interface I will customize. Now I'm of to tweak it with the mod you showed me. :starwars:

Finished the mod and now I can really see a substantial amount of increase when the pages load. They pretty much load instantaneously!

Yeah, its a great browser. Took awhile to get the bugs out, but it was well worth the wait. I remember when I first downloaded it and tried it about 14 months ago, the browser window would bounce up and down and I didnt know how to stop it. It turned out it was a little bug, and by removing the Bookmark toolbar (which is one of my fave features), the bouncing would go away. I was stubborn and decided to stay with IE. Well about 10 months later, I decided to give Firefox another go....all the bugs had been worked out, including the bouncing window lol, and since that 2nd install of it, I havent looked back, and never will.
