Smelt picking up
Heard enough good news to drag my portable onto the Squamscott and set it up to fish Thursday
Bay is producing limits again and they are getting up river in Exeter, too. 'Bout time! Fishing was slow at James Eddy last night; we left early with just over a hundred and some white perch. Time to ravage the local schools!![]() |

Night before last a bunch of my employee's and friends went out to the bay.. and SLAMMED THE SMELT HARD!!! One shack alone produced 60lbs of smelt.. and all the surrounding shacks did at least a bucket or so of fish... The bay is the place to be if you want big catches..... but I've been saying that all along, while (most) of the River Road guys wasted a lot of time unfortunately... but it will start picking up there too, but the bay is hard to beat!!!! When it's ON it's ON.... and you count by pounds not fish!!!

Haven't counted; I'd say 60-70 fish. Best 3:30-5, then a brief burst on the outgoing about 6:15.
