Duck Hunting

Finally got out to hunt this saturday. Of course it's bright and sunny, and some one was in my spot, but was still nice to be out in nature sitting quietly listening to every marsh noise you could hear. Only had 3 shots to take in 3 hours. First two were long so I didn't take em ( I'm not a big sky cannon type, I like one shot and out of the air). Took the third shot almost over my back, only had one round for that one, I missed. I'm probably going to sneak out tomorrow before work if it is still shitty out. Hopefully some geese will be pinned down a bit longer in the AM. Maybe I can be their alarm clock.

This may be the unoffical end of fishing for the year, it's been a long time since I had a gun in hand (I like it).

Scunz,

Nice catch, you are a hunting machine.

The seaducks awhile back wetted my appitite. Please don't tell me that was the Hampton marsh on Sunday.

I got out this morning but I only had about a 1/2 hour of sitting before I had to go to work. I should be showing a picture of a duck but apperently it has been so long since I have shot I can't aim right now. Could see the shot go under the lead duck. Put head on gun, put head on gun, put head on gun (how hard is that to remember?)

I have to change some other things too my kayak is bright yellow I either have to cover it or get a different one. I suppose I could slime it in mud upon arrival, but my time is limited. I suppose the other option is going to a new area that is walk in (I'll accept any advice in a PM)

Definitely camo that kayak.....all about figuring out where they want to be and when......you can jump shoot any of the marshes out there at low tide but get ready to slog thru the muck if you don't have a dog.....Hampton marsh is better way out on the eastern edge, the ducks are already flying high to get to the bay by the time they hit the trestle(usually). Try paddling up into the Brown....there's always ducks there in the morning, especially at high tide. You probably knew all of this already but.....I'm definitely not the marsh expert....yet.

I have seen quite a few people pulling their boats after ducking it this year up on the north end of the marsh. The 101 access seems to be a nice shortcut.

Scunz, Merrill,

Thanks, Just spent about 2 hours with virtual earth looking at every part of the marshes on the NH seacoast. Your advice confirms what I have seen in the past. Now just have to escape to the wild again. Going clay pigeon hunting tomorrow to see if I can get rid of my bad habit (put the head down the barrel and keep it there)
