M Tag Filled. Heading to Maine.

By far today was colder than yesterday with the wind. We had a piece of woods picked out to hunt today. Because of the weather there were no volunteers to stand. So I stepped forward and am glad I did.

I looked like a mummy. My secret weapon was in each pocket and pushin' a toasty hundred.
Gotta love those hand warmers.

About an hour into the sit, to my left, I saw legs coming down through the edge of the swamp. They stopped in the hemlocks. Then I saw then coming towards me in single file.

The first one came over the log, winded me, and started leg stomping. Big mistake.

My 2008 antlerless tag. Button buck.

We were a long ways from the truck. Gotta love those deer carts.

Shot the deer in Hampton. Registered it over to Defiant Lobster.
It was good to meet you Pete. Thank you.

We are leaving for Maine Deer Camp tomorrow. It will be tenderloin on the grill Sunday night.
Wish us luck.
Coalman out.

I forgot to ask you about the duct tape. Tick protection? Or is it a version of the old Vic Strawbridge "hasty wader"? He'd put rubber bands outside his wool pants over his boots and cross deep spots very fast!

OTW,
Because our methods are to move deer we must step into Mother Nature's most nastiest swamps. They even name roads after them.

The duct tape keeps any water from back lashing into our boots. I have my wool pants on the outside of my boots and taped up. The pants over the boots do not freeze. The tape also holds your calf tighter to the boot for better footing.

We copied the look of some well known deer trackers. Sometimes the smaller details allow you to see what is around the next bend.

Thanks again for your hospitality.
