Pickerel fishing help
all,For some reason I have this bug up my butt about catching a large pickrel. If my wife doen't try to kill me I am going to head out to the taylor river resivior sunday morning. My only experience with pickerel has come on the cape in small ponds where I put a worm or a clam on and caught numerous pickerel at about 10" long. My goal is to get something on artifical that is over 18", Preferably some type of top water so I can see the beast coming. Sooooo.... andy advice on this would be apreciated. Thanks . Oddfish |

I've had good luck in the ponds with a Blue Fox Super Vibrax 1/4oz to 1/2oz in chartreuse. Run it fast, just below the surface, along the weeds/lilly pads. I have a pic of a 22" beast caught on a 3/8oz. I'll try to find, scan and post it.
I've also had some luck with a black 1oz jointed Jitterbug with rattle, at dusk/dark. Good Luck, Sean |

Sean, I agree, I've had great luck with the vibrax on pickerel and bass!

I like a 7 inch Fin-S, golden shinner color, twitched past weedy points along the main channel.
There is a slight chance I will see you out there on Sunday morning. The is much winterizing to be done to the house, but it would be a fun break. Good Luck |

Hey Oddfish,
Did you end up going? House repairs prevented me from stopping by, but I was wondering if you were tangling with any monster pics. |
