Wish I did bud, but I still don't have my own....next year.....probably a GSP. If I were you I would join up with one of the local field trial groups....they all get together on w/e and train the dogs together....I hear it's very helpful. If you want to do it on your own you can and there are great books out there.....start 'em young....some guys get them out there at 3 months or so(I think that's a bit young)......definitely helps if you take him to an area with lots of birds so he gets the idea.......you can even buy some quail over in ?Epping for training and that works great.......if you need help finding that group let me know

Brandon

My folks had a kennell raising Irish Setters in Newton. We had a few quail boxes too where we had a pretty constant supply as long as we could keep the foxes away.

My parents had the first male duel champion (both show, and field) East of the mississippi...she loves talking dogs, and infact, I would say one of her favorite things to help others getting involved. I'm sure she would be willing to give some tips even though it's been quite a few years since she has done field work. If you want pm me, and I will introduce you.

Thanks Jim, I appreciate the offer. Right now I am just trying to gather some info, and figure out how far I want to go with this. He has some training so far, I think I need more training than he does.
I might take you up on that offer when I'm ready.

Very slow opener on the Mack......2 Mallards flew into the dekes and both came home for dinner.....only saw about 4 or 5 other ducks and they were flying high on a mission........best thing about the hunt was I shot the greenhead while my waders were at my ankles.........reminder: always take your gun when you go to take a dump........

Too funny scunz

It is true how often that happens. Sometimes I might fish for hours without a bite, but it seems as though when I walk away to take a leak is when the fish finally show up...It's almost as though they know you left, and take advantage of your untended bait.

Yepper, I have got many ducks by taking a leak. I now set the gun just so in fornt of me. Wait until the "V" comes almost directly over head and grab the gun and fire on the head of the V. Several years ago I hit a shot like that and the lead duck nearly hit me when it fell ( missed me to right by about 2-3 yards) easy picken that day. The other one fell only 20 yards in fornt of me. That was a good day.

I got two birds on Wednesday with my Yellow Lab. I am going out again tommorow and will continue to do so over the next month until Muzzleloader.

My wife hates me....
