INTRODUCTION TO TRAPPING COURSE OFFERED
CONCORD, N.H. - The New Hampshire Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program and the New Hampshire Trappers Association are teaming up to present a one-day workshop offering a chance to learn the basics of trapping and dispel the myths about an activity that has important benefits for wildlife and society. The course is open to both women and men age 18 or older. The workshop will be held at New Hampshire Fish and Game Headquarters in Concord on Saturday, October 18, 2008, from 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. A registration form may be downloaded at Welcome to Becoming an OutDoors Woman in New Hampshire or call 603-271-3212 to request an application. The cost of the workshop is $15, which includes instruction, program materials, use of demonstration equipment, plus a continental breakfast and lunch. Participants will gain an understanding of trapping as a necessary technique in the control of animal populations. The course will cover habitats of furbearing animals such as beaver, coyote, fisher, fox, mink, muskrat, otter and raccoon. Participants will learn how to identify various furbearers and their tracks. Hands-on training will be provided, including how to set traps in the ground or underwater, fine tuning the trap, and setting a trap line. This is an introductory course and is not geared toward trapper certification. New Hampshire's Becoming an Outdoors-Woman program is co-sponsored by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department (N.H. Fish and Game Department - Welcome) and The New Hampshire Wildlife Federation (New Hampshire Wildlife Federation). Find out more about BOW programs in New Hampshire and download registration forms at Welcome to Becoming an OutDoors Woman in New Hampshire. |

People come away amazed after they see the science behind it.
We all hear about managing food plots for wildlife. But what people don't know is a good trapper manages the land and the fur-bearers. Which in turn supports the food plot. We are a behind the scene breed. Our own wildlife managers. It can be called a course. I call it an art. ![]() |
