First off, as far as this "incident" goes in this thread, I already started above that it was no big deal. So I don't know why you are getting so riled up about this issue.

With that said, rules are rules. I believe every site/forum has a rules page or thread, and they are all different. Which is why it's always encouraged that people read the rules of any given site/forum before joining. That way, they know what's up and can decide if they want to join or not.

We don't have many rules, very few actually. But all that we ask is that people respect the few that we have. If you disagree with our rules, then what else can I say.

Again, I already personally stated above that listing that place was no big deal. I can say the boat club dock too. What is DISCOURAGED, is saying...."oh yeah, that exact grass bank on (insert river name here) in (insert town here) right behind (insert address here)" etc. I'm sure we can all tell the difference between these 2 examples. If you can't, then you may have a problem with your posts being edited by Moderators here when you post something similar to the 2nd example above.

And no, you're not an asswipe. Not until you do what Lurkers and Trolls do. Here are some examples of the 2:

Lurker:
Will browse and "scrape" info from the site and forum, sometimes even using it on their own web site without proper permission or credit. Also will never join the community and offer any info in return.

Troll / Disturber:
Will register, but will only post to cause fights. That's the moment a Troll becomes a "Disturber". Trolls will register, but sometimes not post, only break the rules and use the forums PM system to spam members, and also contact members and ask for specific spots etc etc etc

Not doing these things or anything similar? Then you're AOK, and a respected & appreciated member and addition to this local community.

Unless you were doing things similar to those listed above, then before registering, you were a GUEST or VISITOR, not a "Lurker". "Lurkers", those who do what is listed above, were referred to as "asswipes", not Guests and Visitors. "Lurker" is the word used on forums to describe those who perform those actions that break forum rules. In no way whatsoever are guests and visitors referred to as lurkers or asswipes. If you're not breaking the rules, then you're A O K.

Now that we have that cleared up, I understand your angst, and respect your opinion, and I WELCOME you to express yourself freely on this forum (without breaking the rules of course), but you must understand in the end....."rules are rules", and they are here for a reason. I have been doing this for a long time, and I have dealt with issue more times than I would care to admit. It comes up every so often, somebody doesn't like the rule. Well, we can't please everybody. But as long as we all know what is considered acceptable, and what isn't (examples listed above), then we should all be fine, and there should be no hard feelings or disturbance here on the forum.

Healthy conversation / debate is not only welcomed, but encouraged. But again, rules are rules. And in the end, the rules will hold.

Thread moved to Castin N Blastin forum because it's technically not a report.

Not to beat a dead horse...but an issue about just finding bait was brought up. Here are the two problems with saying well it's just bait:

1. If the bait is there likely the fish will show up at some point
2. Some of the lurkers have been commercial fisherman who will come in and wipe out entire pods of pogies. It's been happening this year up in Maine. That's some scary shite!

Enough said, I'd hate to lose blackduck because he has been a contributing member of the forum and I enjoy reading his posts. But it is what it is and if your feelings get easily hurt maybe the forum world just isn't the place for you.

There is no reason to lose members over this spot-burning topic, other than if someone doesnt like the rules of any given forum, they can take their ball and go home. Nobody has done anything wrong. An honest discussion is worthwhile and sometimes this subject comes up and it is debated by those who disagree with the rule. It happens at least once a year, believe me.

There is no reason for anyone to feel like they are not welcomed or should leave. It was discussed, opinions you were posted, and that's that. There are no hard feelings on this end. If there are some elsewhere, then that's not on me or the Staff here.

As stated above, rules are rules, and they are here for a reason. These things have gotten MUCH worse in the past before the rule was in existence. You can bet the farm on that lol. I have seen some nasty blowouts on the net in my day. I've even been dragged into some of the silliest, most infantile internet arguments ever. 40 something year old guys making up lies about me ditching them and not showing up on Cape Cod charter LMAO (this happened several years ago on an another forum). My name was dragged into someones elses argument. I've NEVER even fished Cape Cod! Never even been there!!!! LMFAO. The guy completely made it up in an attempt to slander me. Internet Libel.

Ok, so I hope that one lightens things up and everyone is cool

I Rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This post is in jest. To some degee so laugh damit!!!!!

This is try # 3 In the first two tries I was extreamly funny, split my own side even.

It started out saying that I had not cause this much controverys since some ******* played darts too close to my girlfriend's (now my wife) head in the Press Room Some 9 years ago. It only got funnier from there.

I then culminated the post by putting forth that you all are a great group of helpfull people unlike our stupid bypolar society we have today.

Then I sent forth an offer to fish with any of you or fish with me.

It was all very heartfelt and very funny at the same time. But now you get this instead. sorry I just write too slow sometimes so fill in the funny part yourself and laught your ass off.

My feelings aren't hurt. I just don't see the need for the hostility nor the swearing and felt there was some pretty serious overreaction by a few folks. We live in the seacoast area of New England. There are no real secret spots anymore. Chances are someone, somewhere, knows your spot. Sure, I could take my ball and go home, and pout, but if I do that how can I teach you guys to lighten up that it is just fishing we are talking about. It isn't like this is duck hunting. Now THAT is serious business.

Guys, I am a LONG tiime internet forum veteran. I am a moderator on waterfowl and truck forums. You guys are like new born babies compared to those sites. Hurt my feelings you say? Ha. That's a good one. You haven't even come close to seeing a "spot burn" argument until you have seen one on a waterfowl forum.
