sept. tuna

I know this mostly a striper board but I didn't know if any of you chase tuna? I was told that you can find tuna very close to shore around PI and gloucester in the month of sept. Have any of you see them in past years and are they easy to find?

Last year in sept and early october they were in very close from cape ann to the north end of PI. They were also off of long ledge. This year I have not seen or heard anything in these areas as of yet. There is a nice planton bloom out there right now so things may change rapidly.

If I go south this weekend I'll let you know if I see anything. I'm not sure if I am going or not though.

In 2005 or 2006 I may have hooked up with a BFT in the bottom of Ipswich Bay. That was is late august or early september. I had just started trolling north and something took a rapala and spooled 200 yards of 60# test and broke it like it was thread. (could have been a big striper going fast the other way to). I offer this as ancidotal evidence only.
