Early American Trout Fly-Fishing Book

CLASSIC SIGNED FIRST EDITION
I am in the process of disposing of my book and antique tackle collection. This is the rarest and most interesting of all the books I have owned. It is one of the earliest fly fishing books by an American author. Definitely an item for the serous collector of American fly fishing literature.

One of H.H. Leonard's illustrations

Well illustrated by H.H. Leonard, with a dozen of his line-drawings and 20 beautiful full-page color portraits of different kinds of trout and flies. This is the "Edition de luxe", published simultaneously with the first trade edition. Illustrations and twenty color plates by H.H. Leonard. 11 1/4 x 8, green half-morocco and grained cloth, spine in compartments and gilt-lettered, top edge gilt; custom slipcase. Limited Edition, number 84 of 100 copies signed by the author. This was Southard's first published fish book.

I purchased this book at a flea market sale over 30 years ago.

aLibris lists two books. A trade edition at $503.00 and a de Luxe edition at $2,500. I would rate this one at least a $650 value.

I would like $500 but will entertain a reasonable offer and will ship postage paid by USPS Priority Mail from Florida to any US post office. Canada or overseas, please inquire of postage giving your full mailing address.

To purchase, to make an offer or an inquiry, contact me By PM or email to fishinthesurf@att.com
