Thanks.
1989 Evinrude 40hp Model# E40ECU, electric start.
About 5 weeks ago went out in front of P.I., shut it down, fishing for about 45 min. and wouldn't start back up. Was turning over normally, just not kicking in to fire up. Got towed in.
Got it home, checked some things, no spark. Couldn't figure out why.
Brought it to Dover Marine, he looked at it, called me said all set it was a ground wire in the control box.
Only wires in the control box is the ignition wires. (Lanyard is bypassed)
Started right up and ran fine 2 more trips.
Last thursday, went out on Piscat. was fine for a few hours, ran out front for Macks. drifted for 20-30 minutes.
Wouldn't start back up again. Marine Patrol needed me out of the way of that big tanker coming in and towed me to the Coast Guard station.
I checked all wires, couldn't get one screw out of the back of the control box
waited about 20 minutes, turned it over and she finally fired up.
Got back near the GSB and shut it off, started right back up.
Took it out, got home, wouldn't fire up again, tried next day, no luck.
I've been through the forums, iboats forums and
ALOT of people have the same problems, but,
NOONE ends up posting the
solution to the problem.
One guy said when he adjusted the mixture to make it a little less lean, it started every time. How do you adjust that? I can't find it in my manual.
I've tightened every ground screw I can find. I moved the ignition out of the control box since finding some of the wires to it were pinched in the box.
Just sux, missing alot of fishing.
