Official IGFA all tackle world record striped bass
Al McReynolds
The record still stands. Al McReynolds became the World Record Holder on September, 21st 1982, while fishing through a nor'easter from a jetty in Atlantic City, NJ. Using 20# test Ande® Pink monofilament line, and a Rebel black-back silver minnow lure, Al coaxed this behemoth to feed. At 53" long, it weighed 78 pounds, 8 ounces, with a girth of 34 1/2" 'round. BEAST! It was determined by biologists to be around 36 years old, with a birthdate somewhere around 1946! After a several hour battle, just think, this mastadon Striper was caught and landed using a lure! With the catch of this beautiful fish, Al himself proved that yes, anything can happen...
