	The Exeter Sportsman's Club is one of the oldest trap shooting clubs in the United States. It has operated continuously since 1878. Our clubhouse dates to the 19th century and was moved across the ice to its present location. The Club leases several acres of Town-owned land with extensive frontage on the Exeter Reservoir. We sponsor a popular annual fishing derby for children in addition to our shooting, education, training, and public service activities. Members access the Club via a combination lock system and may use any club facilities during posted hours. We meet at 7 P.M. on the third Monday of each month except December.

October 24, 2008 - The 3rd Annual ESC Black Powder Turkey shoot was huge success.  Turkeys were won in two different classes by an eighth of an inch difference in center of shot to center of target.  This was off-hand with primitive firearms and the winning distance from center was 1 5/6 inches in one class and 1 7/16 in another class. In one class TWO shooters were tied at 1 7/16 when the last shooter shot 1 5/16 inch to win.

September 20, 2008 - the very popular ESC Annual Black Powder Turkey Shoot has been scheduled for October 19th this year. Please visit the new "Turkey Shoot" page for more details. Deer Season for muzzleloaders starts November 1st so the Turkey Shoot is a great chance to get the smokepole "sighted in". Loaner guns are available if you don't own a muzzleloader but wish to participate in the shoot.

June 26, 2008 - There was a HIGHLY successful work party last evening. 20 members participated in all or some part of it and 14 out of 17 work items got completed as well as some progress on the remaining three items. Thanks to all who turned out.  Club leadership has noted that weekday evenings are far bettter than precious weekend days for future work parties.

March 23, 2008 - The postponed March meeting will be held Monday, March 24th.  All family and friends who helped with our campaign are invited to share in a "mile long sub" and drinks commencing at 6:30 PM. A brief monthly business meeting will follow

March 6, 2008 - CRUNCH TIME IS UPON US! ALL AVAILABLE HANDS ARE NEEDED!

I.) Friday March 7th - 8AM. Muster at the Club for Campaign work day.

II.)Saturday March 8th(Sunday afternoon the 9th if it rains on Saturday). Campaign work.
 
III.)Tuesday March 11th - 7AM to 2PM( longer if needed ). Poll and phone bank workers needed for VOTING DAY.

February 23, 2008 - Members needed to help out with a mailing work party concerning the upcoming vote on March 11th on the club's long term lease article. Work party will be held Tuesday February 26, 2008 from 6PM until the work is done. PLEASE come out and help us. This is vital to the long term well being of our club!

February 10, 2008 - Our most recent Wax Bullet Shoot was held on Saturday February 9th. A great time was had by all. Safe handling of firearms was taught to a new bunch of enthusiastic kids in a non-lethal but FUN environment. There was some pretty good shooting put on by the youngsters too.

February 3, 2008 - YOU DID IT!  That handful who sacrificed your Saturday for the future of your club got our article on the ballot with a 35 year minimum lease term.  The vote was 29 to 21.  Besides our faithful Secretary who is from Stratham and could not vote, there were 10 of us counting me.  THANK YOU Marie, Bob, Glenn, Steve, Tony, Bud, Matt, Lee and Ingrid. Because of YOU the ESC has a good shot at a great future.

Without you that amendment would have lost.  The one that Selectman Campbell got passed would have allowed them to continue trying to kill the ESC with one year leases or worse.

NOW we must campaign hard to be sure we win on March 11.  If we do, OUR CLUB will continue on that land until at least 2042.

January 29, 2008 - All members are asked to PLEASE attend both the February 2nd deliberative session and the March 11 Town Meeting to vote in favor of the club's long term lease article petition as well as to stop it from being amended( Feb 2 ). Please see the 07/08 Club Winter Newsletter now available for more information.

The ESC annual election will be held on April 21st this year. By February 5th your nominating committee needs one or more candidates for PRESIDENT, V.P. TREASURER, SECRETARY, FIELD CAPTAIN, RANGE CAPTAIN, and FIVE MEMBERS AT-LARGE OF THE EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE. The President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer and Facilities Captain have agreed to serve another term if the club so wishes. However, alternate candidates for those offices are welcome. Contact a club officer with your offer to serve. A volunteer is still needed for the newly created position of ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP CAPTAIN.

It is time to "step up to the plate". We cannot expect (and it won't happen even if we do) the same small group of members to fill ALL of the offices and do all the things necessary to keep the ESC growing and improving. We need help and volunteers.

A special thanks to Tony Picciano for becoming Facilities Captain when Bob Elliott took on the job of Secretary. Repairs and improvements to club facilities during 2007 have been dramatic to say the least. Thanks to Percy Annis, Glenn Steele, Paul Lipp and especially Mike Higgins for the new gate plus refurbishing and relocating our flagpole.

Up coming events - Wax Bullet Shoot on Feb 9th at 3PM( hotdogs and soda will be avilable ). Youth Fishing Derby May 3rd.

The very popular ESC Small Bore League will start up again begining May 13th and run for 10 weeks every Tuesday from 4:00PM until dark. There will be 5 nights of pistol shooting and five nights of rifle shooting. For more information please contact Vice President Ken Zahrndt.

A REMINDER. All memberships expire on march 31st.  You will receive a renewal form in the mail or you may download one from the club web site.  DON’T DELAY as the combination locks will be changed on MAY 3rd immediately after the derby.
